Injectables Q & A

What are injectables?

Injectables are a highly effective, convenient, and nonsurgical treatment that involves the use of a tiny hypodermic needle to deliver specific substances to diminish facial folds, wrinkles, and fine lines, restore fullness and volume to the face, and reveal a more youthful-looking complexion. Injectables must be administered by aesthetic professionals with special training and are available through prescription only.

Aging and other environmental factors can cause your face to naturally lose subcutaneous fat and the facial muscles can start to work closer to your skin’s surface, making facial lines more prominent. Your facial skin can lose elasticity and stretch over time. Injectables help to temporarily resolve some of these cosmetic problems.

What can injectables do?

Best Choice Primary Care offers injectables for a number of reasons. They can:

  • Improve shallow contours
  • Plump lips
  • Soften facial folds, creases, wrinkles, and fine lines
  • Reconstruct facial contour deformities
  • Enhance the appearance of recessed scarring
  • Remove or decrease the lower lid shadow

Injectables can be especially beneficial for addressing a specific cosmetic problem or for treating some of the earlier physical signs of aging.

What are some of the injectables available?

Best Choice Primary Care provides a variety of injectables. Injectables are best used for specific purposes and comprised of different materials and substances, such as calcium hydroxylapatite and hyaluronic acid.

Botox

Botox is derived from an organism called Clostridium botulinum that’s naturally present in lakes, forests, and soil. Botulinum toxin is poisonous in high concentrations, but the minuscule, controlled dose used in Botox injections has a lengthy safety history. There are over 20 medical uses for Botox, including treating migraines and excessive underarm sweating.

Botox works to treat wrinkles by preventing nerve signals to the injected muscles, minimizing muscular activity that causes facial lines to develop.

Dysport®

Dysport usually involves five injections of a special formulation above and between your eyebrows that temporarily prevents muscle movement in that area but allows the surrounding muscles to continue functioning normally.

Juvéderm®

Juvéderm is made from hyaluronic acid — a substance that’s naturally present in the human body. Your body responds favorably to hyaluronic acid gels that provide a smoothing and plumping effect to reduce wrinkles.

Restylane®

Restylane is a collection of injectables that’s also formulated with hyaluronic acid.

Most injectables involve little to no downtime and the effects usually last up to four months, sometimes longer. Multiple injections and multiple treatment sessions might be needed for optimal results.
